Someone mentioned MkII clones. When I a search on eBay, perhaps to
find a used MkII, I found several items:

http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=m38.l1313&_nkw=jtagice+mkii&_sacat=See-All-Categories

However, all were clones. Most from China. Specifically this one
item was listed:

http://cgi.ebay.com/AVR-JTAGICE-mkII-clone-support-AVR32-JTAG-ISP-debugwire_W0QQitemZ140269280491QQcmdZViewItemQQptZBI_Electronic_Components?hash=item140269280491&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318

Here's what bothers me about it though. From their text:

"Tis item is 100% compatible with Atmel's AT JTAGICE mkII, It
supports AVR32 series of MCUs and can upgrade with avrstudio's upgrade
tool."

In order to be 100% compatible, and be upgradable via AVRStudio,
somebody has either 1) OEM'ed the MkII, 2) successfully cloned (clean
room approach), or 3) "cloned" it (as it pirated).

I don't think it is #1, since we would probably see OEMs from more
than China. And #2 would mean there are probably going to be issues,
and Atmel won't support it. Good luck getting support from China. So
I suspect #3. And that means no support and probably issues in
quality.

Just my $0.02 worth.
