Sorry, I simply couldn't fit anything into it like that that would
serve as a useful example (i.e. something where diverting to asm was
really justified).  The example is supposed to be a real-world one,
nothing artificial.

If you've got any ideas for what kind of function could be moved out
into the assembly part there, you're welcome.

Of course, I didn't assume someone would really stare at the examples
without prior reading of the FAQ. ;-)
