The next step will be adding separate menu positions for DIP and TQFP
packages :-)

Use commercial tools and it's already here. Atollic True Studio for
Cortex M3 is an example. Different entries for different packages.

Some difference in features/errata/workaround in different packages or in different subversions?
Eg. ATmega 164/324/664P datasheet, page 241:

"The differential input channels are not tested for devices in PDIP Package. This feature is only guaranteed to work for devices in TQFP and QFN/MLF Packages."
