>Is the avr-libc user manual and the installation guide in that manual deficient or wrong in some way?
Well, unfortunately for me, following the avr-libc standard installation steps at http://www.nongnu.org/avr-libc/user-man ... tools.html led to the errors I reported above. It kept hanging at the avr-libc installation step. This led to the above discussion of the merits (and problems) of crossdev. Since I couldn't get the normal steps to work, i tried the crossdev workaround to get avr-libc installed. this worked, and i then followed the remaining steps at http://www.nongnu.org/avr-libc/user-man ... tools.html . >Crossdev is known to be deficient. I don't understand why you felt compelled to use some hybrid approach when the user manual contains a known good method on building and installing avr-libc... Right, I definitely didn't want to deal with crossdev irregularities (especially since i am a relative noob), but it allowed me to get around the problems I reported in my Apr. 07 post. I am hoping my current problems aren't a result of this workaround (well, they appear not to be at this point). _______________________________________________ AVR-libc-dev mailing list AVR-libc-dev@nongnu.org http://lists.nongnu.org/mailman/listinfo/avr-libc-dev -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/avr-libc-installation-error-tp16469007p16697074.html Sent from the AVR - Libc - Dev mailing list archive at Nabble.com. _______________________________________________ AVR-libc-dev mailing list AVR-libc-dev@nongnu.org http://lists.nongnu.org/mailman/listinfo/avr-libc-dev
