As I said originally, libftdi is GPL'd. For that matter, so is the Linux kernel's ftdi_sio driver (which doesn't bitbang, of course).
After re-reading things, I see where I got tripped up -- thinking that libftdi had a dependency, but I see that was written out. So, life is wonderful.
