Well, I don't care too much whether it's really the *same* GUI on all platforms, although it makes maintenance quite a bit easier (*). But at least, there ought to be *some* GUI on any supported platform. (*) If the GUI toolkit works reasonably, I can then just go ahead and modify the GUI to my liking on a Unix machine, and assume that about the same kind of change will automatically appear on Win32 and MacOS X.
