This is an alternative patch for #6530.
This patch creates a new programmer-id (called arduino). The arduino
programmer is mostly a STK500v1, but uses a different method for reading the
signature bytes.
I prefer this patch over #6530, because it:
- creates no compatibility issues with a real STK500v1
- does not duplicate code, as the revised patch in #6530
