Hi Jerome!

Awaybuilder is a workflow tool and framework for generating Away3D content. It's current implementation is still experimental but there will be an official blog post explaining it in detail very soon :)

In short, it is a kind of wrapper for the Away3D API that will allow you to generate Away3D content from multiple sources, providing a parser is built for each source. The current source has a parser that has support for generating 3D scenes using Maya collada export, generating Away3D cameras, geometry, materials and hook up mouse interactivity as well as storing any number of custom object settings, which could be very handy for creating games.

Having the 3D implementation details being external, you can remove the need to recompile in Flash, greatly speeding up the workflow. When using the provided custom Maya collada parser, you just export your scene in Maya and refresh the Flash app to see the changes.

I have noticed that the first commit of Awaybuilder to the trunk has some package errors and need a few minor adjustments. I will try to get those sorted out this evening and also make a simple example file showing how to implement it :)

Cheers,
.andreas
