Did you hear about GrantSkinner Proximity Manager class ?
That may help to decrease the number of computation for particles
interactions...
In fact they are several pipeline to achieve this...I'll have to make
choice...
It's another subject, but few month ago I had a talk with Fabrice
Closier about a kind of "creative group", in order to explore
interfaces
and creative opportunities of the engine aside of the dev group...
As Bob Liddle would say :" to translate from the "enthusiast stage" of
technology ("wow, we can do that !") to a new phase of adoption: "Hey,
we could use it that way, let's see how it'll change the way I'm
considering web interface ! ! "."
