Hey Ben

it looks like you problems come from rendering each object on it's own
separate layer. as far as i can tell, the only reason you are doing this is
to allow mouse events for each object rollover. this is an unecessary step,
as objects already have mouse events that you can add, just check out the
Basic_InteractiveObjects example in the examples folder

without the layers, the framerate doubles. Give it a try and let me know how
you get on!

(also, for completely enclosed objects, there is no need to set bothsides to
true as you wil never see the inside of an enclosed object. the only object
you need it on is splash, and even then, only if you want to allow users to
look at it's underside. This is another frame-saving technique. give it a
try!)
