you probably downloaded the away3Dlite SVN.
I don't know if it's the one you tergetted, but light are not
implemented in this branch yet, use:
2.4(flash player 9) or 3.4 (flash player 10), if you want to access
the whole away3D feathures.
Included light ;-)
