Hi everyone,

Hope you can all be a fresh set of eyes and quite possibly a smarter
set of heads to help me out with the issue i am having. Any help would
be appreciated.

I am currently working on a project that would present the user with a
series of magazines, upon clicking a magazine cover the magazine opens
up and zooms in to take up the view. I had first thought about using a
moveclip material on an object and zooming into that using the camera
until it had taken up the available space. I find this a lil too
tricky as i ended up dealing with 2d coordinates and working out where
the limits were in relation to the 3d space.

My next idea was to, at a certain point, create a 2d object at the
same size as the 3d object and then scale the 2d object to take up the
space. The scaling would be a lot easier and would allow me to easily
scale it back down to its original size, hide it and would be left
with the 3d object. The user would be none the wiser and not see the
change happening.

This led me to the issue i am currently having, i have put together a
few tests of creating 2d objects over a 3d object using its bounds
taken from the view session. This worked fine. However i have multiple
objets in the view and am finding it difficult to get the bounds of
the object i need.

I have uploaded the code for my current tests up at
http://karlbright.org/away3dgroup-animation-code.zip

I guess the big question is, how would you handle transitioning from a
3d object to a 2d object in such a scenario as this?

Thanks in advance and don't hesitate to fire some questions my way
regarding my setup and what im aiming for or to call me an idiot :)
