It's a shame that the plugin doesn't work for Maya 2010. If none of the other Collada exporters will output the dynamic attribute information it will be impossible to use the files with AwayBuilder as most of the information it needs is stored there :(

Hello Andreas,

Thank you for the plugin!

I've downloaded the zip and upacked it.
Had a look at the .sh file for the mac install and it
was a bit out of data, so I changed the paths a bit
to work for Maya 2010. That bit went well.

The problem is that the bundle isn't compatible with
Maya 2010 :(
Here's what maya spits out in the output:
// Error: Plug-in, "COLLADA_m2008" was compiled against too old a
version of the Maya API and is thus incompatible with the current Maya
version. (COLLADA_m2008) //

Help ?! :(

Hi George.

The reason you are getting only planes and green materials with
visible wire frames is because the dynamic attribute data is missing.
AwayBuilder won't know what classes to use for object and material
creation without that data so those defaults are used.

I haven't tried the collada exporters you mention but have used
ColladaMaya 3.05B (attached) from feeling software and that works
well. Hope that works!

Hello,

I am following the tutorial found here:http://blog.juanbonfante.com/?p=163

I am using Maya 2010 with the ColladaMaya2010SL v1.0 plugin found
here:http://www.milknosugar.co.uk/lab/
I tried the one onhttp://opencollada.org/and I have the same issue.

At this stage I just tried to Export All from the sample file in
Juan's tutorial (BasicTutorial.mb)
Good part is the Collada XML is exported, it's loaded and interpreted
by AwayBuilder...
The bad part is instead of getting a cube and a sphere on a plane, I
get 3 planes with
green(default maybe) materials. The sizes look ok-ish too.
I've look at my exported .dae file and compared it to the one that was
already in the tutorial.
I'm missing all the extra attributes set in Maya.

For example in the extra node for the ground plane I get this

<extra>
              <technique profile="MayaNextGen">
                <originalMayaNodeId>pPlane1</originalMayaNodeId>
              </technique>
</extra>

all the other objects have the same kind of extra node, no
dynamic_attributes node shows
up.

I did run the python scripts provided, but no luck exporting a proper
xml.

Any hints on what am I missing/doing wrong ?

Thanks,
George
