Try to make your room out of one continuous object, instead of many different parts. I don't know exactly what will be the best since I haven't tried exactly this before, and things can go wrong with even simple models. But, I know you will have less problems and it will be faster if you use one object (or model), with every part attached, and no extra part (like back of the shelves, you don't need).
In the case you are using f10 version (hopefully you are), you don't need to add many segments to each wall or part/shelf because the F10 version will handle all the textures great. So in this case, less is more, more speed and more better looking (less glitches). Hope it helps and I wish you good luck!
