I've just posted a demo of solid/procedural textures which allows you
to play around with them to see what wierd and wonderful textures you
can create, such as wood, marble, brick and varitions of.

Although, this functionality isn't in the core Away3D libs at the
moment, it will be heading that way. I need to rework things first, so
