I don't know exactly what to answer here as I read at least 5 or 6 different 
questions merged all together...

I'd rather forget about building sceneries using the BSP feature, even if we 
took great care to simplify as much as we could
this technic requires an extended knowledge of Away3D, modeling en will require 
a great bunch of AS3 skills.
It looks easy, and it is, considering what would be normally required to create 
such kind of content, way more easy and accessible.
But if you scale this technic to general flash/actionscript, we are talking 
complex shit here...

See Prefab as an help to enhance your workflow. The app allows you to load 
models, correct/control them, 
and export them in a format more suitable for Away. either AS3 or awd.
Prefab doesn't chew everything for you. You will eventually need to code. The 
app shortens corners and ease some processes for sure.
but its not outputting a final product. Just bits of it. The art is in the 
combination of the tool and your code.

What I'm trying to say, is that you should start with basic understanding of 
AS3/away combo first.
