Yes, it does. But the resulting string looks a little strange. Can't show it now, unfortunately, 'coz I upgraded Vim from 7.1 to 7.2 with some options tuning, so it uses window name in UTF8_STRING and so works with Awesome normally. I'm not very familiar with COMPOUND_TEXT format, but what I say was something like this: <cntrl_seq1>koi8-r<cntrl_seq2>word1 <cntrl_seq1>koi8-r<cntrl_seq2>word2 ...
