Summary - Broken focus on windows without an input focus hint.
Task Type - Bug Report
Category - Core
Status - Unconfirmed
Assigned To - Operating System - All
Severity - Medium
Priority - Normal
Reported Version - git/master
Due in Version - Undecided

Details - Hello,

A few days ago I noticed I can't focus StepMania (in windowed mode) anymore. A
few Java VM applications seem to suffer too. The windows actually pop out in
the taskbar, and can be somewhat accessed, but awesome doesn't even mark them
as focused.

I managed to track the commit that broke the previous behaviour:

commit 506a4200c69e652214c5c2f1438fdf3952c846d0

   client: support input focus hints
Signed-off-by: Julien Danjou <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

-- /snip --

This created a `nofocus' variable which gets set to true for the mentioned windows. I noticed these
don't have the "Client accepts input or input focus: True" hint set at all - shouldn't it
be assume it's "True" by default ? However, I'm not the one to speak, because I don't
know the EWMH standards. Nevertheless the current behaviour seems to be somewhat broken, as other
WMs handle the mentioned windows quite nicely.

It should be at the very least possible to override the setting manually via
lua interface, not ?
