I've just commited such a functionnality.
There's now a fake_input() method which is a rough binding to the main
XTest request.
It may a bit too low-level for now, because it requires keycode rather
than keysym.
libfakekey has code to convert keysyms to keycode, but it's really ugly
(as they write in the source :) so I did not bother to port them myself.

Please, test and report.
