I have this bug too, here are the steps to reproduce:

Go to any tag, press <modkey-space> until you are in a floating
layout. Open gvim in the current tag (for example
<modkey-F1>gvim<Enter>).

PS: Its curious none else noticed this happened with gvim, somehow I
thought everyone used it, perhaps most awesome users prefer regular
vim inside xterm?
