A new Flyspray task has been opened. Details are below. User who did this - tomdeb (tomdeb)
Attached to Project - awesome
Summary - awesome doesn't detect xrandr screens as independant desktop
Task Type - Bug Report
Category - Core
Status - Unconfirmed
Assigned To - Operating System - Linux
Severity - Medium
Priority - Normal
Reported Version - 3.3-rc1
Due in Version - Undecided
Due Date - Undecided
Details - After following the wiki [1], it seems that awesome doesn't detect the second screen.

I was expecting awesome to create an independant screen with its own set of
tags as in [2] [3] but instead , it spans accross both screens and because both
monitors are not running the same resolution, a whole lot of space is not
viewable.

This behaviour is seen when using either static config of xrandr in xorg.conf or when switching manually with
xrandr --output CRT2 --auto --right-of DFP1 --output DFP1 --auto

I running awesome and its dependencies off Debian Sid.
