Alternatively, we could turn awesome into a reparenting WM and then we could tell the difference between "the client unmaps its own window" and "awesome unmaps the frame window" (FS#636). Thoughts? Which one is the way to go? How close is a fix to FS#636? Perhaps we could also hack up a patch which makes awesome a reparenting WM without making this a visible change (ie the frame window and its child always have the exact same size).... Waiting for your feedback.
