A new Flyspray task has been opened. Details are below. User who did this - Risto Varanka (varis)
Attached to Project - awesome
Summary - Cannot move clients to 3rd screen
Task Type - Bug Report
Category - awful
Status - Unconfirmed
Assigned To - Operating System - Linux
Severity - Medium
Priority - Normal
Reported Version - 3.4.8
Due in Version - Undecided
Due Date - Undecided
Details - Platform:

Archlinux, desktop system with 3 physical screens and xrandr

Awesome version:

3.4.9-1

Steps to reproduce:

1. Start X and Awesome with startx and .xinitrc
2. A few terminal windows (eg. Eterm) are started from .xinitrc and they appear
on screen 1. Screens 2 and 3 are empty.
3. Select one of the terminals
4. Press mod4+o to move the terminal to first screen 2 and then screen 3 (you
can also call awful.client.movetoscreen from a menu item)

Expected behaviour:

Client window gets moved to 3rd screen

Actual behaviour:

Client returns to screen 1.

Repeatability:

Over 1/2 - I've seen this numerous times so it should be easy to reproduce with
the right conditions. I couldn' repeat this if I had already X running and
started awesome manually from a terminal, or if I launch awesome within an
xterm window from .xinitrc.

Notes:

No output in stderr or stdout from this case. Tried debugging movetoscreen()
and it seems it gets the correct index for screen 3.

Workaround:

Restart awesome and this starts working as expected.
