A new Flyspray task has been opened. Details are below. User who did this - Donald Johnson (minozake)
Attached to Project - awesome
Summary - awesome windowbar doesn't redraw in certain circumstances
Task Type - Bug Report
Category - Core
Status - Unconfirmed
Assigned To - Operating System - Linux
Severity - Low
Priority - Normal
Reported Version - 3.5
Due in Version - Undecided
Due Date - Undecided
Details - The windowbar in the default awesome config does not redraw when:

- A new window is added to the current tag
- When tags are switched to a new set of tags which have a new set of windows
(or lack of windows)

Apologies if the specific terminology mean something different than what is
used on the project.

I am on Arch Linux fully updated to today. To reproduce, using the awesome
default config, I open a window. For some reason, the bug doesn't surface for
the first time a window is spawned into the current tag. When an addition
window is spawned, added to the current tag, or the tags are switched to a new
tag containing windows, the windowbar doesn't redraw. It will redraw when the
time changes, when the run prompt (via Mod4+R) appears, or when window focus is
switched (not upon spawning). It will partially redraw when the mouse moves
over the window bar (like an eraser tool in a graphics editing program).

Workarounds: By forcing the windowbar to update, it's possible to diminish the
effect. Currently updating time by the second gets around the bug without much
annoyance. Running xcompmgr also fixes the problem.

I should be able to try to git bisect today to figure out where the bug is,
since I didn't have it before (since this is a new install, I don't know what
update caused it).
