I attaching the result of xtrace of nm-applet. It is quite small, so I am not
truncating it, as maybe there would be some useful info in setup part.

It looks like the flicker occurs as frequent as nm-applet updates network
strength indicator (or connection progress indicator), but I cannot tell for
sure. It definitely does not flicker as fast as possible. xev output spits a
pack of messages about once a second.
