CMAKE_PREFIX_PATH and CMAKE_LIBRARY_PATH

Hi --

I want to install awesome3 in /opt/software, since all my libraries are 
in that prefix (libxcb etc).  How do I get cmake to look for libraries 
in that prefix?  I know I should probably be setting CMAKE_LIBRARY_PATH 
and CMAKE_PREFIX_PATH, but it doesn't seem to work when I try setting 
them as environment vars.  What do I have to change in 
awesomeConfig.cmake to get the desired behavior?
