Ok, I see. Thanks for the good explanation.
Then the other problem I had, namely...
... I have a client tagged with 1, 4, and 5 on screen 1. Now I
move it to screen 2 using awful.client.movetoscreen() which works
but all previous tags are gone...
... can be explained with the same X11 limitation.
