I have the same problem on recent git versions, and killing unclutter
helps indeed. I never would have thought of that.

I wonder why there is suddenly a problem with it, I have been using
unclutter and awesome together without any problems for quite some time.

What would that be?

Is there maybe a chance to let awesome hide the mouse pointer after some
idle time?
