You're right, it is, and I didn't state at all why I wanted to work out the layout.
Specifically, I want to set things up so that, when I log in, all my windows open up and go to their correct tag and screen, with the layout already done. In my case, it gets slightly harder, as the layout I've mentioned has to do with my IM and IRC windows. IRC is bottom left, IM conversations are top left, and right side is IM roster. The IM conversation doesn't open until after I double-click on someone's name. So, what I'm wanting to do is be able to say to awesome to put the IRC on the left until the IM conversation window appears, and then that moves to bottom left automatically.
