I have some weird issues with Thunderbird and Gimp.

In Thunderbird, after composing a message, the message window closes.
However, the entry in the taskbar remains, also the space it occupied on
screen still seems to be in use, but there's no window there anymore,
it's transparent. When I now want to compose a new message, the window
does not reappear. However, if I switch tags back and forth, the window
magically reappears. Before composing a new message, this trick does not
work.

Gimp suffers from similar problems. A lot of windows have the exact same
problems. For example, the color chooser window. After closing it, it
remains in the taskbar. Switching tags doesn't bring it back. But when I
open it again, it appears after switching tags.
