I would like to share with you my first Awesome WM extension (and also my first
lua script ;)) called screenful.
What it does ?
First of all it automatically detects connected/disconnected monitors/screens using udev events then it "calculates" with graphic output changed state and finally it can turn on or off this device.
Additionally it manages lua based config file where you can set specific configuration (eg. clone/left/above/left of/right of another output) for particular device. screenful reads part from EDID code
that uniquely identifies monitor so even when you have two same monitors you can configure each one separately! Because configuration file is a lua script you can perform many useful things when
monitor/screen is connected (eg. change mplayer audio output HD TV set is connected by HDMI).
