Thanks for pointing them out, but As I said, I use different window managers, 
and I would like to
maintain the autostart in the freedesktop way. In addition,this makes adding 
applications easier
(I think) and wore transparent when using different WM.

Concerning running dex only once, none of the approaches described will work, 
as they effefively
check if the application to be started is already running, which dex is not, as 
it exits when it
has been called once.

Thinking about it, a LUA function using the approach outlined by Andre would be 
really neat.
