I had trouble with knoppix and my multicard reader too. The kernel parameter didn't seem to work. And recompiling the kernel in knoppix isn't very easy I'm afraid. Maybe you should try to find some windows ext2 tools? I'm not sure where you can find them, or if they even exist though...
