I've been listening to various talks about literate programming. Bart Childs of Texas A&M University, presented a paper with a talk "Thirty Years of Literate Programming and More?" and mentions Axiom at around 24:30 (actually, somebody named Nelson, I suspect Nelson Beebe, from the audience talks about it at Bart's request).
