I tried the cookbook link you posted > http://orion.uwaterloo.ca/~hwolkowi/matrixcookbook.pdf which fails due to access rights. I looked at the home page for > http://orion.uwaterloo.ca/~hwolkowi which has a link to an offsite copy of the cookbook but the page refuses to load.
