Hi folks,

This is just an interim report.
I've made contact with David Crossley who is the chair of
the Apache Forrest PMC. The followings are Q&A regarding
how to automate the building of the Apache projects' site.

Thanks,
Toshi <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Thank you very much for the advice and the warm reply !

My pleasure. Glad that i could communicate.

I'll forward the message to axis-*-dev lists and pmc AT ws.

Then, I might visit forrest-dev if we have any follow-up
questions on this issues.

Please do. We need to minimise all hurdles with documentation creation and publishing.

I would prefer that everything gets discussed on an ASF mailing list.
I am happy for you to pass this response on to your PMC list or even
to your dev list.

Good.

That is not Forrest's fault. That is a current requirement of the ASF.
All generated websites must be under source control. This applies
whether it is generated using Forrest, Maven, Anakia, etc.

There is a proposal to change that requirement:

It is stable and it works fine. However, it will never be used to
do "svn commit" of generated ASF websites. Using role-based commits
are also frowned upon.

That is another reason for the "Proposal" referred to above - generate
on another server and use rsync. However that is still only a proposal.

We don't even use forrestbot for our own Apache Forrest project website.

We do have an experimental forrestbot to accompany the abovementioned
proposal: http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=forrest-dev&m=110637660517206

Other the proposal, no.
