Hi Pankaj, I'm working on Ubuntu 7.10 (Gusty Gibbon). I do find .so files for all my libs. Also, I do have the .a files for each corresponding .so file. In Ubuntu, .so files are dynamically linkable files whilst, .a files are statically linkable files. dlopen() can deal with dynamically linkable files. I'm not familiar with the setup on Posix OS, Therefore, If you could figure out the dynamically linkable file extension for your OS, which dlopen can handle, I believe I you can get this problem solved by doing this modification in util/include/platforms/unix/axutil_unix.h. Simply, replace the *.so extensions with the corresponding one for your OS. I can't guarantee that this is the ideal solution, but I hope it should work. However, please do recheck to see whether your dynamically linkable files bare the .a extension before proceeding.
