The problem with the libhttp_channel.so was solved by using the settings given below.

I am trying to make Axis1.5 alpha talk to Google.I am getting the same results as I was getting with Axis 1.4 which is a segmentation fault :).The stubs/code files were attached with my previous mail to the group on March 8th( that was with Axis 1.4).
Please do let me know if someone has been able to make Axis 1.4/1.5 alpha talk to Google.

libaxis3_transport.so for Transport_http libaxis3_transport_ssl_channel.so for Channel_HTTP_SSL libaxis3_transport_channel.so for Channel_HTTP
in axiscpp.conf from the 1.5 alpha package.
