Thank you to all who replied.
We managed to make it work either by setting LD_LIBRARY_PATH value to
the lib directory in the axis repository before starting Apache or by
adding path to the lib directory of the repository into the
/etc/ld.so.conf file and running ldconfig.
Using envvars file also probably would work.
