There are patches attached to the bugzilla records for both of these. No
testcases sorry, but I can test them out with WSIF once they're in an AXIS
build.

well, if they can go in before the RC is cut, then you should be in the
clear. Its the stage between RC and release that we really want to keep the
changes to zear-zero.
What are the thoughts of the committers on me applying these patches?

I can try to take a look at these, but what would be most helpful (in
terms of fixing the bug and making sure it's done before Friday) would be
for you to submit a CVS diff that contains the necessary fixes. :-)
