Nevertheless, I'm also interested in the async APIs.
Additionally, I have already done the modeling of
the asynchronous communication via SOAP over HTTP,
roughly. So, I would like to propose the model and
the abstracted APIs when I complete them.
In the current estimation, it'll take a few months.

The async work has been put on hold temporarily so we can get 1.1 out the
door. Once 1.1 is out, the plan is to kick this work back up to full
speed. There is some existing code out there (in the org.apache.axis.ime
package) but there are still some expected evolutionary cycles. If you'd
like to help in the effort, welcome! Let us get 1.1 out and then we'll
talk more about it.
