OpenVMS is a Operationsystem for midrange-Computing. may be you know the pdp-11 or pdp-8 - kernighan & Ritchie started to develop a programminglanguage on it ( it called "C" ).
now most systems running with a "Alpha"-processor and it will ( is ) ported to itanium.
to the issues: We have systems running (for about 15 years) and develop for this systems and this systems running very well.
This systems are in my opinion as well as AS400 (sorry IBM).

pardon my ignorance, is openvms a unix clone? what kind of platform does it
run on? What issues would one have to consider to get an openvms environment
running? and is there a enterprise level adoption of openvms and if so how
significant is it?
thanks,
sanjaya.
