Hi Ravi,

Thanks for the suggestion. I think the correct way is to have one update site, and put Axis, Ant, etc into seperate categories. Since Axis is one of the bigger piece involved in the WTP project, that's why I started here. If I want to start the discussion about having one update site, do you know which mailing list I should use? I can't find a general Apache dev mailing list.

Thanks,

Maven has had dynamic download of stuff for a while, Ant1.7 uses the same repository layout, though we still need to do a lot for security, mirroring, etc, etc.

Hi Jeff,
That would be great ....
One question .... is your proposal limited to Axis or consolidate Xerces, Ant, etc under an update site ?
Regards
Ravi

Subject:* Eclipse update manager site for Axis?

Hi,

I work on the Eclipse Web Tools Platform Project (WTP). One of the features included in WTP is the ability to generate a Web service that targets Axis. Obviously, in order to do that, a user would need to "install" Axis into WTP. The install steps are not easy, in fact, they are quite painful... What would be nice is if we can host an Eclipse update manager site on the Axis Web site, so that users can just point to the URL and Axis will be installed automatically. I'll be interested in contributing this piece of the work. Any comments/suggestions?

Thanks,

Jeff
