Yes I agree that the code here does not adequately express the algorithm. 

This code is about 4 years old.  Is there an active Axis emitter developer who would like to comment on the current state of the SymbolTable code ?

I was afraid you'd do that :).

I see this comment in the code: "This whole method is waaaay too
complex." ...! 

Can the kind soul who wrote that code explain the algorithm please?
