Performance degradation in axis 1.4

There is a big performance degradation when I upgrade to axis 1.4
Right now we were using Axis 1.3, document/literal and starting from the WSDL
Here are the libraries I currently use:
http://www.ibiblio.org/maven/axis/jars/axis-1.3.jar
http://www.ibiblio.org/maven/axis/jars/axis-jaxrpc-1.3.jar
http://www.ibiblio.org/maven/axis/jars/axis-saaj-1.3.jar
http://www.ibiblio.org/maven/axis/jars/axis-wsdl4j-1.3.jar
When I swicth to axis 1.4 using the following libraries:
http://www.ibiblio.org/maven/axis/jars/axis-1.4.jar
http://www.ibiblio.org/maven/axis/jars/axis-jaxrpc-1.4.jar
http://www.ibiblio.org/maven/axis/jars/axis-saaj-1.4.jar
http://www.ibiblio.org/maven/axis/jars/axis-wsdl4j-1.5.1.jar
The performance are 4 times slower (Using load testing with JMeter).
Nothing else is changed except the axis libraries, no attachments are involved
in the tests.
