No solution is perfect; we can't keen an indefinite lock on others' progress while the 1.1 release is done. There's been a virtual code freeze now for few weeks .. we just can't do that for so long. Let's be realistic- not every patch will likely make it to trunk right now. We'll all have to have some painful time after the release to sync the trees.
