[axis2] simplecontent that refers itself - is that valid?

Hi,
I am not sure of the validity of that xsd type.

<xsd:complexType name="EthnicityCodeType">
   <xsd:simpleContent>
     <xsd:extension base="nibrs:EthnicityCodeType">
       <xsd:attributeGroup ref="j:SuperTypeMetadata"/>
     </xsd:extension>
   </xsd:simpleContent>
 </xsd:complexType>
