If it can help, I've noticed that if the firewall does not allow the client to
receive the response (i.e. the request is executed by the server, but the
response never reaches the client) the memory usage remains more or less
stable. Memory problems seems to arise only in the correct scenario (i.e. when
the client receives responses)
