I came across a very similar error, so I believe it's the same and I cloned
this issue.
When sending invalid XML character (in my case an invalid white space character
0x17), then Axis2 responds to the client with an invalid XML document. It's and
embedded SOAP fault including a new xml processing instruction within the soap
body:

I don't expect Axis2 to handle 0x17 white space character in XML, but I expect
to get a proper SOAP Fault at the client.
I'll upload a testdriver for this.
