Yes, there is an issue. Original poster was correct. 

What seems to be happening is that the client launches another thread to send 
and receive message. The response is received from the server, and the 'main' 
method exits, but there is still a thread hanging around - probably the thread 
launched to handle the send/receive. 

As a result, the process does not end and has to be manually terminated.
